Grip size does matter. I was surprise that Federer is using a size 3 grip. But to each their own, I thing flatter players will use a bigger grip. ( but I am just speculating )

Your title has nothing to do with what you say this is a pointless argument. the only difference in a one handed and a two handed backhand is hands, movement, reach and body rotations. "So far I have never read someone stating that one or the other…

Roddick VS. Federer

Roddick transformed his game for the better. Played a history making match. Only lost by 2 points. He makes a joke to federer. the joke was federer "u already won three Wimbledon" or " u already won one I have none." quote not exact but close enough. winning is a test of skill & focus. Losing is a test of charater & endurance. & Great champions are masters of both. Please visit CoachV www.TennisLessonsGA.com for tennis lessons in atlanta GA :-). when Roddick learns this he too can be… Continue

Tennis is such a great aerobic sport and the bonus is...it's fun! Just let me know when you're going to be able to play and I'll make time to get there. The best time is the weekend, but on the weekday, I'm free on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday after 4pm.

Dear CoachV, here is my story, as you requested. I also read your bio at TennisLessonsGA.com and really liked it. Interestingly, I was with the NJTL in the early 90s, Skip Hartman was the Pres. of it. You must have been a real good player, and still are. In my times, 1960s, you probably would have made it into the tour. I did. There were only about 200/300 male players competing internationally, and fewer women, all traveling together and being friendly. See, today it is harder to make it because there are about 3,000 players vying for rankings, with more than a thousand with ATP points. My fault, perhaps, because I helped develop what is called now modern tennis, and I did it for Spain in the 1970s, Brazil and Germany in the 1980s, and then in the end of 1991 I got first on the New Tennis Magazine Show every week till about October 1995 (where Richard Williams saw me, taped the shows, and changed his daughters to my techniques, which he loved. He told me that personally in 1999 and gave me a big hug two different times). Then I was hired by ESPN International as a commentator for the ATP, Australian Open and French Open from April 94 to the end of 1999, when I moved to another channel Panamerican Sports Network to do also the WTA and Wimbledon.
But the most marking thing that happened was when I taped with friend who is the Wimbledon and French open director for NBC 40 extraordinary tips, very revolutionary, and I took them to ESPN International. They loved them edited them to 30 seconds long, and started broadcasting them to about 170 countries. They were so well received that they decided to do them in Spanish as well, and they put them in English and in Spanish on all the sports. With the NBA alone (I had two tips on each of the finals of 1997, 98, 99, which if you remember had Michael Jordan performing spectacularly and being followed by the whole world) those tips had over two billion impressions around the world. As at the time they didn't have enough commercials, ESPN International rotated the 40 tips and they also put them in all the other sports, which brought the total of impressions well over 6 billion. Interestingly, or smartly, I decided not to charge ESPN Int. for the tips, as they had offered to do, and said that the only exchange I wanted was to have my new website's URL (tennisteacher.com) displayed on the tips, which we did during editing them initially. We'll you can imagine the flood of visits to my website from all over the world, and some remarkable sales, like to the father of Paradorn Srichaphan, an aspiring junior in Thailand. Now he is sort of a prince in his country!
As a coach there were incredible successes of my techniques. Spain, which I influenced at the National level in the 70s, started pouring top players. Brazil, which I influenced throughout the 80s, produced Guga Kuerten. Russia, influenced by my first book, which I gave to their tennis federation in 1989 (Moscow coaches completely switched their top junior programs to my techniques) started showing incredible results by the late 1990s. Richard Williams, who totally believed what I was exposing on the Prime Network shows in the early 1990s, developed two world champions. A group of Chinese coaches asked my permission and translated my book in the late 1990s. Eastern Europe, as usual, followed the Russian lead, and is producing miracles today. My new book, Play Better Tennis in 2 Hours was published by McGraw-Hill and is being distributed internationally. I get e mail enquires sometimes from the most remote places in the world.
So, perhaps, the old description that you were in the right places at the right time describes my journey. It took guts as a 20 year old to leave my engineering studies for an uncertain tennis career, but I loved traveling around the world, even hitch-hiking at times (remember that professionals were not allowed on the tour at my playing time, so we were paid under the table, including players such as Emerson, Stolle, Newcombe, Roche, just hundreds of dollars a week, and we had to pay our own way). Meeting people in Europe, Africa, South America and the USA was such a blast, and I made tons of friends. What better pay at the time!
So that is what it took to where I am today, coupled with my studies, starting in 1977, of Dianetics and Scientology, which really put me at piece with myself and others. The knowledge I gained helped me not only for this lifetime, but also helped me understand previous ones and preparing me for the next ones. I hope your life takes you to many wonderful adventures. Knowledge is power, and I would recommend you read and study my book and DVDs so you have great data pertaining to Modern Tennis, and to make time to read "the Fundamentals of Thought" and "a New Slant on Life", both by L. Ron Hubbard, which will take you to new realms within yourself. Those and the entire "Basic" books helped me reach new heights in understanding and in life. As I said, knowledge is power and I wish you a wonderful life in which your present goals and new goals can be achieved.
Oscar Wegner, May 2009.
