How do you grip the raquet when you hit a Volley?

My volleys are not as crisp as I'd like. I use a neutral grip and I'm getting a lot of backspin on the ball and the pace is really slow. I'm wondering if I should use a strong western grip in order...

squeeze the racquet right before impact and transfer all your weight to your hand. if it helps, take a step--when you step pretend you are killing a bug. with authority

Sounds like your "neutral grip" is the Continental grip-- a 'tweener' grip with the 'V' of your racket hand on the top bevel of grip. This Continental grip is fine for both FH & BH vollies and does not require a grip change at net. But it is also ...

Looks like the best evening next week for me will be Wednesday - I could meet you at Sunset at 5 if you're available then. Let me know if that works for you and we can also touch base Mon or Tues to confirm. Jeff jeffreybpearsall@aol.com

On the weekends, I generally want to play in the mornings. During the week, my family usually eats dinner at 6, but I can be flexible for an occasional match. Why don't we touch base on Monday and find a time next week. You can reach me at jeffrey...

Hi Jeff - I could try to get off work (M-F) a bit early next week and meet you at Sunset. What times are you available on weekends? Also, is your 4-6pm range hard and firm, or could you possibly play til around 7pm on weekdays?

do you know what an up is? the beginning drill of bouncing the ball with yourself in the air. thats how its done. or how you want to hit the volley. if this helps let me know.

Most people use a different grip for FH than BH. I think the best FH grip is the standard western grip. The BH should be more of an eastern grip. The motion should not be a hatchet job, more of a punch thru the ball. Don't swing. Punch the ball fl...

I live in the GV area also, and was a 4.0 player when I played regularly several years ago, and I'm trying to get back into playing again on a regular basis now that it's cooling off. I generally play at Sunset Park but am flexible. Right now I ca...

I could hop on the Deuce from Mandalay Bay and be there without to much trouble. I will wait to confirm with you if nobody else can play closer to Sahara.

Robert,
I will actually be in town the 21st - 23rd. My free time for tennis will be on the 21st, Monday from 6am - 3:30pm (first part for my conference starts at 4:30pm that night.) I do not have room to pack my racket BUT I can pack my shoes. Always love to play when I travel. I've played on the courts behind the RIviera Hotel & Casino and their pretty good. I will be staying at the Sahara this time around.
